You look so much like your grandmother! I love the message, and I'm weirdly obsessed with old writings, like the actual penmanship, so I loved seeing the photo of the yearbook page. I used to comb through old letters at my grandmother's house and began to know my ancestors by their handwriting. I'm thinking of starting some snail mail relationships as well, because it feels like a breath of fresh air right now. Wow, that was a total tangent this evening. All this to say, I'm delighted you're doing more 100 word masterpieces!<B

Thank you friend 🩵🩵 I love old handwriting too!! Snail mail! What a fun project 😍😍

I miss the passing notes in the hallway days. I knew all of my friends handwriting so well that they didn’t have to sign their names 🙃 which helped in case of the note falling into a teacher’s hands 🤣

I’m excited to see what comes up in these snippets over the next month! Can’t wait to share them 😍

Oh, I remember knowing my friends handwriting too, come to think of it! Ugh, I feel old, but that was so mich better than texting, right??

I feel old too! And yesssss so much better than texting. I miss the anticipation of wondering what the next hour would bring! What words would I get to devour, what secrets, what crushes, what plans would all be waiting for me?!

Instant access has its charms, but there’s nothing like the feel of the creased paper and smell of lead or ink ♥️

Wow, I simply love the endearing way people would write "back in the day"... and as a fellow nurse, so appreciate those sentiments. That is a beautiful picture of her.

yes! so glad you are celebrating yourself and the history of your incredible grandmother.

Analog letters and penmanship are favorite pastimes of many and every stamp and aerogramme is a gem. Do you recall onion paper? It was thin like phyllo dough and had kind of faint designs in it? And all the stamps and the smell of ink!

Delighted for you.

Thank you for sharing your magical be-ing and fam with us all.

Let the storytelling commence!

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of onion paper! Sounds fascinating though!! I used to love tracing paper, I didn’t know how to draw so my mom would get the books that allowed me to trace over different pictures. It’s also partly how she taught me to write. I traced all the letters and then I’d write them on my own.

Maybe that’s what I’ll write about today!! Thanks for the inspiration :) Xoxo

Cool. :) yes. It’s like tracing paper.

I’m delighted that something as simple as tracing paper brings you to your origin storytelling of writing and drawing especially with your Mom.

Mesa, this is beautiful. The way you weave memory and discovery into such a small space is remarkable. That inscription from your grandmother’s friend—what a profound reflection to stumble upon. It’s always striking when the past echoes something we recognize in ourselves.

Your creative rebellion resonates. The act of distilling moments into 100 words feels like both a challenge and a gift—a way to contain the vastness of memory without diminishing its weight. I’ll be looking forward to seeing where this journey takes you.

Here’s to letting the words fall out.
