Congrats!

My win for the week is that I maybe got my taxes done. Doing them always stresses me out, but it was particularly bad this year. The fact that I don’t want to pay them at all contributed to that stress, but mostly it’s because while I just divorced my now ex-husband, we were still married in 2024. We’re apparently supposed to still file jointly, but I haven’t been able to get ahold of him since he signed the divorce papers back in October. I was able to get his W-2 from his employer though, and filed married filing separately… I’m not at all confident I did it all correctly, but I’m hoping the IRS accepts it. Anyway, I’m proud of myself for doing it and not giving up even though I seriously considered just skipping this year and filing next year when I could file as single 😹. If they don’t accept my return this year, I may still do that and just pay the fine for doing so.

Thanks K! I like to get it done early so I have time to adjust if things don’t go as planned. I also just hate having it hanging over my head 😆.

Congrats, I don't like it as well and still have to do mine for 2023 (but only got the last number from my brother recently)

Thank you! I’ve heard that some countries basically only ask you if the information they have for your income is correct, and calculate your taxes themselves. That is how I think it should be!

Good luck on both your 2023 and 2024 taxes! May they go as easily as possible for you.

I love this! (And I love seeing your face!) My win this week was summoning up to the courage to email a lot of people to ask them to do something to support me (a thing I'm going to be doing several times throughout June as I launch my book). I've never really asked people for much and I don't love doing it, but I'm proud of myself.

Seriously though, I got through the flu. Now I think I have a sinus infection, but I'm still alive.

I have been taking walks most days of the week. Some days outside, some treadmill, some indoor track. I listen to an audiobook or music I love from decades ago and try to be present in my body and let my mind chill. It’s surprisingly effective for a 30-minute thing 😊

Looooook at youuuuuuuu!

Such a joy to see your face :)

Oh, swimming through the "Barrier Reef"! I can relate.

That's the image I'm choosing because I've had big emotions too and I'm imagining iridescent sea creatures and living coral and maybe even some Mermaid dust.

No meltdown this week? C'mon. We are Gen X and beyond? How many John Hughes movies about emotional meltdowns and heroes in our history? Are we both Slackers after all?

Oy.

January was my meltdown month. February is well, cooooooold. :0)

Proud of you as always.

Congrats to you, Mesa! My big win was staying grounded during a bank meeting about the looming bankruptcy of the company where, on paper, I’m still CEO and co-owner. In the past, facing authority figures was unbearable—an immediate trigger tied to deep trauma. This time, it wasn’t easy, yet compared to how it used to be before I integrated my trauma last year, it felt almost effortless. I could self-regulate, let others speak, share my situation clearly, and make my point without losing myself in the process. That was a huge win.

That is absolutely HUGE!!! Jay, I’m so so happy for you!!! Seriously, I know how hard it is to be in a situation like that, facing a past trigger. But I’m so proud of you for getting through it!! And that it was easier than you thought it would be!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻♥️♥️♥️♥️

This was so lovely. Thank you for reaching out to us like this. It’s so fun to see and hear you!

I know I’m late to the party, but - like many of the folks who have already commented - last week was a rough one for me on many fronts.

My win is kind of two sides of the same coin. On one side, I gave myself permission to drop the ball on two scheduled Substack posts. I have it grudgingly - and not without guilt - but I gave it. On the other side, I picked myself back up off the floor and got a post out today. (Which I know you already saw, and which features your delightful Note about screaming in the woods, so thanks for that!)

I am definitely in one-day-at-a-time mode lately. And I’m trying to be okay with that.

xo 💜

All the YES to this! I too am in the one-day, one-moment at a time mode now. I don’t always have a win, but I’m always on the lookout for one. No matter how small. I’m glad you were able to get some of your words out, I feel seen in them!! Xoxo

Mesa!! I want to just sit in an eternal hug with you!

I feel your win SO DEEPLY!!!!!

What in the actual fook are HR peeps going to DO with ourselves for the next 4 years?!

WHY OH WHY was last week so hard for us on the job?!

You nudge me to keep going.

I can’t say I had the same win. I broke down. More than once!!

But I’m back at it, here, on a Monday, and my win is that I’m actually eating lunch away from my desk- here- connecting with you!! 🤍🤍

This video clip was everything- encore!!

Oooff, Mesa. Yesterday in my German class, i didn't let shame of "i'm not a perfect studious girl" stop me from focusing on the class and my homework. That's a BIG WIN for me. And last week, i went to my German class alone and on foot, not fearing that sth might happen to me.

Another BIG WIN for me for the past week or two (or more maybe?) is that i'm trying to actually do what j believe is good. For instance, i used to tell my parents A LOT that not picking your phone to check your messages right after eating breakfast or even after you get up is very beneficial in setting your mood for the day (I was the one, my parents aren't like me. Mel Robbins said that and i occasionally tried that. She was TOTALLY RIGHT). One day, i decided to REALLY DO IT and see its results. Now after two weeks or more, i not only do it automatically, but also feel better doing so.

Oh Mesa, it was so good to see your face and hear your voice! Thank you for sharing your win with us. You always inspire me to keep going even when I don't really want to. I've almost made it through the week with my son who's been off from school for "mid winter break". I made it through his 13th birthday and I didn't fall apart in front of him. I'm so proud of him but also sad that his dad isn't here to see how far he's come. So many feelings and too much isolation. I know it gets better, it always does. Just hard when we are in it. I'm always grateful for your wisdom and how your share your bright light. XO 🥰❤️
