I wanna talk about my cousin a bit I love that German differentiates between a female cousin and a male one by adding an "-e" to the end the word). I didn't think I could connect with her so deeply and in a very short time for so many years. The reason was that because of my dad's job, our vacations to my hometown were short, and most of our time there was spent visiting this relative, that relative, grandparents and so on. That all changed after 2020. When my parents and lived separately for some months due to some circumstances, I got to spend a long time getting familiar with my cousin and forming this deep bond I have with her now. Now I see her more as my friend and big sister (She's nine months older than me) than my cousin.
My nomadic life means I’m often not around loved ones. If I didn’t see and interact with people I don’t know I’d often go long periods without connection—something we all deeply need. It does feel wonderful to connect on this “simple” level, doesn’t it? 🥰
I was in the probate court line. Numb. Overwhelmed. My dad recently died. Her daughter died that Friday. We locked eyes. She told me to breathe. We breathed together. We hugged. I felt completely seen. Held. Literally and figuratively. This only child mothered by a stranger while my mother stared blankly at me from a nearby chair. Never seeing me. Even now nearly two months later. The kindness of strangers who see us -even for a moment- can have a profound impact.
“But the core of it all is connection, and wanting to be seen fully.” This.

I’m so glad you have her! Thank you for sharing about her with me! 😍
You're welcome, Mesa. By having such good people in our lives we become more hopeful that good people still exist in this dark world.

WOW... so reminiscent of the 57 years Rena have spent together... and we're still learning each other and of our families and acquaintances.
I love that you’re still learning about each other after all these years! I love your love!! 😍😍😍😍
